Poland-(Berberanews)-Following intelligence agency warnings that Vladimir Putin is about to “double down” in his invasion, #Poland has indicated it will hand over its MiG-29 fighter jets to the #US, which is anticipated to lend them to #Ukraine.
Zbigniew Rau, Poland’s foreign minister, claimed his country was “ready to deploy – instantly and free of charge – all of their #MiG-29 jets to the Ramstein air station and place them at the disposal of the US government.”
Poland is estimated to have 28 of the Soviet-era fighters, and has been negotiating a three-way arrangement with the Biden administration to supply #Ukraine with air power, on the condition that the MiGs be replaced with newer US jets.
The agreement effectively divides the risk of Russian reprisal between the US and Ukraine, with the latter deciding how and when to give them over to the Ukrainian air force.
In a statement on his ministry’s website, Rau stated, “Poland begs the United States to give us with secondhand aircraft with corresponding operating capability.” “Poland is ready to establish the terms of the plane acquisition right away.”
