Proud to be a Somalilander…

Berberanews-Prior to somalilands declaration as an independent and separate state from the rest of Somalia on may-1991. A great number of politicians, religious leaders, civil service, sulthans as well as other clan intellectuals representing all 12 different ethnic-clans of somaliland have gathered on a well attended meeting in burco city to seriously discuss the issue of region´s future.

The honourable delegates from,Maroodijeex,Awdal,Togdheer,Sool and Sanaag  regions  had,  after a long serious contemplation, succeeded in their first leg of the conference to  call upon an emmidiate seize fire and subsequently conduct  a torrent of an effective peace mission and reconciliation among all fighting sides in the country. they also in their meeting paved the way for a possible further discussions on the future of the country, where they later on  (without the slightest influence of SNM)unanimously agreed and declared independence of the republic  of somaliland.

Somaliand has ever since relatively enjoyed peace and stability. and the country had in a short period of time, started to heal it’s wounds from the civil war and  booked  marvellously a number of brilliant achievements.

in addition to that, somaliland also succeeded in their effort of creating a multi-ethnic government and a well functioning system.they held several elections and had a several peacefull power transfers.the governments succesfully managed to keep the country’s policy  up-to date, and adopted the system of democracy and well governance, which earned them reputation both inside and outside the country.

Back to 1991,Among the delegates of sool were the Garaad of dhulmahante. Mr, Abdi qani  and prof.galaydh.who were mainly  in favour of the plan that somaliland to finally stand  on it’s feet alone again than to remain in that failure unity with the rest of somalia, and  they were both prominantly  behind  the idea of secessionism. Now,the question is. where did  things  go wrong? what made dhulmahante people change their mind?what is the main cause of such immense disstrust and anti-somalilandism?and what did somaliland government do to lose in such great extend, the confidence of dhulmahante society?     well, the answer is quite very simple. ofcourse nothing went wrong with government’s policy, but as we all know dhulmahante were once loyal to the toppled dictator of siad barre and they   even   assisted  him in his brutal carnage against isaaq people in early eighties, and ofcourse the only  significant   reason why they supported somaliland during  the regional conferences in burco and boorama was to play  a clever game and mislead the eyes of the peole ,pretending to be a faithfull and a real somalilanders in order just to cast a shadow on their fear and avoid a revenge and reprisal from SNM on their people.

However, they were not serious about the idea of somalilandism,in the first  place.except  the fact that they were playing a dirty and smart policy of pretending as such, while  keeping  one foot here and the other there. waiting for the moment to come and make good use of the apportunity of becoming  part of the so-called federal government of somalia.and that itself proves us of the fact that  they were not the kind of thrust-worthy, decent somalilanders we anticipated them to be.

Anyway,my message to Khaatumo state leadership and it’s  dhulmahante symphatizers is that they are  fishing in a dirty and muddy  water and their  hope of establishing an autonomous  state within the borders of somaliland  is an illegitimate and unconstitutional.

It is rather a kind of a day-dream that will never ever come true. It is just like practicing christianity in a mosque.

On the other hand, matters concerning the generousity of Somalilanders.our people  gave brotherly help and assistance to an exodus of refugees  fled from the endless wars and daily hostilities in their home-towns  in  the  south of somalia, who sought safety in our blessed country.

Those fugitives from the neighbouring south somalia have recieved a warm brotherly welcome and were shown a great  hospitality by the people of somaliland, both government and civilians.they were since then treated fair and equally as they relatively have acces to all kinds of help and contributions from both governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Somalilanders show great deal of mercy and human sympathy to our guests,as we constantly regret to see our brothers in the south to suffer and live under appaling   atmosphere  of   endless hostility. we share with them the sorrow and regrettance, and we prey  for  them  day and night and ask the almighty allah to grant an uplifting alternative for them..INSHA ALLAH).

We somalilanders are a peace loving ,pitiful and caring society with clean heart,  who  are almost  always  there  for others, incase there is a need for help and support.and we do not ask a thing  in return for our generousity. that is what makes us a genious ,proud  and succesfull people.

VIVA SOMALILAND……..VIVA SOMALILANDERS.

   MIGHT ALLAH BLESS YOU ALL.
