President Siilanyo returns from London Conference

 Hargeisa-(Berberanews)-Somaliland president returns home after attending a crucial conference on Somalia   that took place in London-UK.

 During the visit, President Siilanyo held talks with the world’s top leaders and is said to have produced a stronger diplomatic fruits as well as positive progress in certain areas.

 

The London Conference, hosted by United Kingdom, designed to be a channel for rebuilding Somalia was participated by foremost representatives from over 40 governments including U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.  

The Conference was the latest of 20 international conferences on Somalia that have been conducted since the outbreak of the civil war in the country. According to the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), the meeting aimed to come up with a new approach by addressing both the root causes and effects of local problems.

Somaliland  an unrecognized self-declared de facto sovereign state that is internationally recognized as an autonomous region of Somalia had been, for the past 21 years, in peace and  lobbying for a well deserved recognition from the international committees during a time in which neighboring Somalia has known little peace since.

The president along with other government ministers and members of parliament landed at Hargeisa International Airport were they met an enthusiastic crowd brandishing Somaliland flags and flowers cheering “Long Live Somaliland”
