Kenya asks Israel for help fighting Al-Shabaab.

Kenya-November-18-2011-(berberanews.com)-Prime Minister Odinga visited Israel Sunday and Monday seeking assistance in building the capacity of Kenya security forces.

Kenya’s Prime Minister Raila Odinga is seeking Israel’s support in stopping reprisal terror attacks by an al-Qaida-linked militant group/s which Kenyan troops are pursuing in Somalia. Kenyan troops last month moved into Somalia to fight the radical Al-Shabaab militants.

Kenya said in a statement that Israel President Shimon Peres and PM Netanyahu promised to lend a hand in securing Kenyan borders with Somalia.

Israel has identified East Africa as an important strategic interest and is stepping up ties with nations in the region in a joint effort to control the spread of Islamic extremists.

A statement from the Kenyan Prime Minister’s office said Israel government promised to help build “a coalition against fundamentalism,” which consists of the collaborations between Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Tanzania. The Israeli government is also said to be ready to make everything available for Kenya’s internal security.

Israeli security forces are among the best in the world in dealing with terror threats.
