UN says Thousands flee Las Anod Fighting

Somaliland-(Berberanews)-Thousands of people are reportedly still fleeing Las Anod, a town in disputed Somaliland, because of fighting and instability.

In the previous several weeks, an estimated 60,000 people have crossed the border into Ethiopia.

According to the service, many people came traumatized, worn out, and with little belongings.

The UN calculates that more than 185,000 people have been uprooted overall in the Las Anod region.

Violence broke out earlier this month between local forces and Somaliland forces, whose independence declaration has not been recognized internationally.
