Top African leaders attends Somalia’s new president innaguration

Mohadisho-(Berberanews)-Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Somalia’s new president, was sworn in in the capital, Mogadishu.

Kenya, Ethiopia, Egypt, and Djibouti’s leaders were present at the ceremony.

President Mohamud stated in his inaugural address that his top priority was to work for peace throughout Somalia.

He also stated that he would consult with the two previous presidents, whom he defeated in last month’s elections.

He takes over a country beset by security threats, a devastating drought, and widespread hunger.

Climate change and the failure of government infrastructure, according to the president, are to blame for the drought.

He has been touring some of the country’s regions in recent days to assess the drought and security situation.
