Somalia-(Berberanews)-In Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, Al-Shabab fighters have attacked multiple police stations and security checkpoints.
Five persons, including two children, were murdered in two attacks on Wednesday, according to state television: one at a police station in the Kahda district and the second at a target in the Darusalam district.
Abdiasis Abu Musab, the group’s military operations spokesman, claimed militants targeted government targets in four Mogadishu districts and another location on the outskirts.
According to him, the fighters took military vehicles and weapons after overrunning government outposts.
It was not able to verify their statements right away.
“The terrorists stormed the suburbs of Mogadishu and targeted our police stations and checkpoints,” Interior Security Minister Abdullahi Nor posted on Twitter early Wednesday. The enemy was defeated by our security.”
