Rebecca Hogue was sentenced in prison after her kid was murdered by her lover

USA-(Berberanews)-A mother in the United States was sentenced to 16 months in prison after her boyfriend murdered her son while she was at work.

Rebecca Hogue, 29, was found guilty in November of murdering her two-year-old son Ryder in the first degree under Oklahoma’s “failure to protect” legislation.

A jury recommended that she be sentenced to life in prison, but the punishment was reduced to 16 months by a judge.
Because of the time she has already served, she will be sentenced to 13 months in prison.

Hogue declared after her sentence that if she could go back in time, she would do anything to prevent her son’s death.

According to the Norman Transcript, Hogue said, “I was so proud to have such a gorgeous, strong, brilliant, healthy child.”

“The only thing that has brought me comfort in the last two years is the fact that the man who did this is no longer alive. I know my child is in heaven, and [ex-boyfriend Trent] isn’t even close to him.”

Judge Michael Tupper told Hogue that she “did not deserve to die in prison” when he handed down her sentence. The judge went on, “You are not a monster.” “You’re valuable for the sentence.”

On New Year’s Day 2020, Ryder was discovered dead. Hogue awoke to find himself barely breathing after a 12-hour shift at a bar in the early hours of the morning. Christopher Trent, her lover, had vanished.

Trent’s body was discovered in the Wichita Mountains four days after Ryder’s death, apparently by suicide. A neighboring tree had the words “Rebecca is innocent” etched into it.
