Addis Ababa inaugurates renovated municipality offices

Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia today inaugurated the renovated and reconstructed municipality offices built 57 years ago during Emperor Haile Selassie I.

The city has spent 2.2 billion Birr for the renovation of the Municipality, which is found at the center of the city next to St. George Church Piassa area. Along with mayor office and the Municipality compound contains a theater hall and cafes, meeting halls, different offices as well as green areas with parking areas within the compound.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony this evening, Mayor Adanech Abiebie stated that the city not only renovated its municipality buildings, but also modernized its services in a way to satisfy the inhabitants of the capital Addis Ababa.

The renovation of Addis Ababa Municipality offices built during the era of Haile Selassie I is the second major / mega project inaugurated next to the Abrhot public library. At the inauguration it is stated that Addis Ababa University Technology institute and Alef, a Dubai based company have participated in the renovation of Addis Ababa Municipality.

In a related development, Addis Ababa City today hosted the Great Ethiopian run where several thousands of people have taken part in the 10 kilometers’ race.
